Home minister Rajnath Singh who is also the chairman of BJP‘s election manifesto talks to ANI’s Smita Prakash on developmental politics, the Kashmir issue and matters of internal security.

Rajnath Singh says that their government has always stood with the security forces and provided them with the defence essentials when their government came to power. He slams the question of a separate Kashmir mentioning that Kashmir would never be cut off from the Indian subcontinent and that it would always remain a part of it.

Singh says that his political party supports every citizen regardless of their caste or religion. “There is no need for Muslims to feel unsafe in our nation,” says Rajnath Singh. He also mentions how job opportunities have been created in the last 5 years and people’s means of livelihood have improved. With regard to the about BJP’s election manifesto Rajnath Singh opines that there are no big numbers in the manifesto as the numbers do not work out exactly but means of livelihood was actually delivered to the people during the Narendra Modi government’s reign.

Speaking about BJP’s election manifesto, Rahul Gandhi had tweeted that the manifesto is the ‘manifesto of an isolated man’.

He puts in Sushma Swaraj‘s words as he talks that ‘terrorism and talks cannot go together.’ He says the allegations against the IAF strikes on Balakot are baseless. He also rubbishes the claims of the current government using the intelligence agencies for their power and propaganda.

BJP’s election manifesto which was released with the name ‘Sankalp Patra‘, (a pledge) earlier and talked of issues such as Sabarimala, the Citizenship Amendment bill, opportunities for the youth of the nation among others.

Regarding the Citizenship  Amendment Bill the manifesto mentions, “We are committed to the enactment of the citizenship amendment bill to protect the individuals of the religious minority communities from neighbouring countries escaping persecution. We will make all efforts to clarify the issues to the sections of population from the North Eastern states who have expressed apprehensions regarding the legislation”.
