Telangana IT Minister and son of caretaker CM of Telangana K C Rao, KT Rama Rao on Thursday declared that he will retire from politics if Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) does not win the upcoming state assembly elections.

Rao said, “In a TV channel interview, an anchor asked me that our graph of reaching public has decreased. Today, at this press club I wish to say it again, on December 11 if TRS doesn’t come to power without any alliance, I will take ‘Sanyas’ from politics”.

He was expressing his views during the ‘Meet the Press’ program organized by the Hyderabad Press club on Thursday.

He further asked if any of the Opposition leaders were prepared to accept his challenge of quitting politics if their parties lost the polls.

He also claimed that around seven surveys conducted by different media organizations on the poll prospects of the parties after the dissolution of the Assembly on September 6 has predicted overwhelming votes for the TRS.

Replying to a question whether he would be the CM if his party wins, he said, “I never had such a dream or wish. I am content with what I am today in politics and I do not aspire for anything more. I wish that Mr K. Chandrasekhar Rao continues to shoulder the stewardship of the state for 15 more years and transform it with sustained growth.”

Mentioning some of the programmes launched by the TRS government and its grand plans for shaping the future of the state, he said there were many reasons for people from all quarters backing the TRS government.

He said that Mr K C Rao has won the confidence of all people across communities and regions and his government as he has offered a politically and economically stable governance apart from peace, development, and welfare, which is what people expect from a government.

He further claimed that Hyderabad was becoming a safer city and had been repeatedly ranked as the best city in terms of quality of living and other categories as well by international agencies.

Replying to the query with regard to Congress president Rahul Gandhi and Telugu Desam Party president N. Chandrababu Naidu being together during the election campaign, he tried to do some wordplay on his name and said that Mr Naidu is like the moon which only reflects light. He also said that Mr Naidu had never contested independently and always joined hands with other parties.

Elections in Telangana will be held on December 7 with results being announced on December 11.
