Bangalore boasts of many temples, but none of the temples are like this one. The Lord Shiva Statue, which is located in the old airport road of Bengaluru, just behind the Total Mall in Murugeshpalya. This temple impacts the mythology. The statue here depicts Lord Shiva, who is seated in Padmashan or Lotus position in the Himalayas. It is one of the famous Shiva temple in Bangalore. This temple is built by the RMV foundation in 1995.

The Shiva statue is 65-feet tall, and this is reason, it is one of the famous and the largest Shiva statue in India. Shiva’s idol is a great crowd puller as the majestic Lord, in a lotus position, sits in a scenic spot. The image depicts as having four hands, two in front and two at the back. The two hands in front positioned on His lap while the other two at the back are holding a ‘damaru’ and a ‘trishul’. The main attraction of this temple is the background, where it is made to look as if it is Mountain Kailash, the house of Lord Shiva. You can also see the sight of a beautiful body of water flowing through the curly locks of Lord Shiva which is basically a representation of the Holy Ganga.

There is an attractive pond right in front of Shiva statue, the water flowing through the curly locks of Lord Shiva are collected into this little pond. Many devotees rush to this pond and chant ‘Om Namah Shivaya’, 7 times and after that they throw a coin in the pond while making a wish at the same time. It is believed that the wish will surely come true. It is believed that this is a wishing pond.

This temple also features the 32-feet tall, white statue of the Vignaharan Ganapatiis, which is seated first at the entrance of Shiv Mandir, blessing you with his right hand and a modak in his left hand. This temple uploads the tradition that the Lord Ganesh is the first deity to offer prayers at the temple.

This temple also has the Navagraha temple, it consists of images of the powers of the 9 planets that rule our fate. It is believed that Performing Shani Puja here can ensure wealth and prosperity for your family.

The Shiva statue in Bangalore attracts thousands of devotees, as the famous Pratyaksh Ling which is hidden under the sacred waters of the Mansarovar Lake appears only during the aarti in the morning, evening and midnight. Once the aarti is over, the Ling will be disappeared. Hence praying to Pratyaksh Ling is believed to be a symbolic prayer to Lord Shiva, as it tells us about the God’s miracle.

This temple is one of the biggest tourist attractions and religious destination place. If you really want to witness the glory of this sacred temple then you should visit the temple after sunset, because the Shiva statue is lightened during nights and it looks marvelous. The entire sight is nothing less than heaven.
