Twitter stops ‘SMS to tweet’ service in some countries

Long back, Twitter first started SMS services for reading and publishing the tweets. Now, it has decided to stop it. So, users will be no longer able to tweet through SMS.

With this users will not be able to get text notifications for tweets. The main reason behind this is the company is encouraging everyone to download its mobile app.

The company says “We want to continue to help keep your account safe. We’ve seen vulnerabilities with SMS, so we’ve turned off our Twitter via SMS service, except for a few countries,” the company said. “Everyone will still have access to important SMS messages needed to log in to and manage their accounts.”

The users who were relied on SMS’s for tweeting now have to download the app. Even notification and tweets will not be sent through SMS. Some users might feel tough to get to the change and use the app. Also some users on the platform said that they still were using the feature to get alerts, while some businesses were using it to reach their customers. By seeing some tweets it seems to affect a wide range of users. However, users have to cope with it.

Moreover, Twitter has not confirmed in which countries the SMS feature will remain active. In India this feature remains as it is and users will still get notifications.
