Saina Nehwal

India’s star shuttler, Saina Nehwal has won the first round of Indonesia Open by defeating Thailand’s world No. 8 Ratchanok Intanon and has now entered second in Jakarta on Tuesday. Saina won the match by 17-21, 21-18, 21-12 in a match that lasted for 57 minutes.

Previously in Thailand Open, Saina Nehwal was defeated in the semi-final round by Busanan Ongbamrungphan. Further in the second round, she will take on Thailand’s Nitchaon Jindapol who is at present ranked 15th in the world. Good thing for Saina is that she has defeated Jindapole in the previous seven matches.

Earlier on Tuesday, the Indian mixed doubles pair of Ashwini Ponnappa and B Sumeeth Reddy lost 12-21, 9-21 in the first round to Indonesia’s Irfan Fadhilah and Weni Anggraini.
