Delhi Capitals’ winning start in IPL 2020 came to an endways Tuesday with a 15-run defeat at the hands of Sunrisers Hyderabad. And following the defeat, Delhi Capitals captain Shreyas Iyer suffered another blow as he was fined for slow over-rate.

It has been reported that the Capitals could not keep up with the designated time and hence did not complete their 20 overs in time. They took 23 minutes more to end their 20 overs after starting on 6 pm civil time. This was Delhi Capitals’ first over-rate offence within the ongoing IPL 2020. Consequently, Shreyas Iyer was fined INR 12 lakh.

“As it had been his team’s first offence of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct concerning minimum over-rate offences, The IPL has mentioned in a press release that Iyer has been fined with INR 12 Lakhs.

Delhi Capitals, meanwhile, dropped to the second spot within the points table – behind Rajasthan Royals – after losing their first game. they’re going to now play Kolkata Knight Riders on October 3 in Sharjah.

While Delhi Capitals lost their first game, it had been the primary win of the season for Sunrisers Hyderabad. Asked to bat first, the Hyderabad-based outfit posted 162 for 4 within the allotted 20 overs. Captain David Warner and Jonny Bairstow gave the team an honest start by adding 77 runs for the primary wicket before the previous departed.

Bairstow went on to attain a fifty before Kane Williamson slammed 41 from 26 to power the team to its highest total this season. Kagiso Rabada impressed with the ball again for Delhi because the South Africa star picked up two wickets while conceding just 21 runs off his four overs.

On the other hand, Delhi could only pull off 147 for the loss of 7 wickets. Shikhar Dhawan was the top-scorer with 34 while spinner Rashid Khan made the difference with the ball, taking 3 for 14 off his four overs.
