Another huge blow to the men in yellow as their star batsman has returned home on a short notice due to personal reasons and will miss out the entire season of IPL 2020. The news was confirmed KS Viswanathan CEO of CSK. There is no clear information if Raina would return or not but the franchise has shown complete support in his decision.

Recently the Indian pacer Deepak Chahar and 11 staff members from Chennai Super Kings we’re tested positive for the Covid-19. With Suresh Raina leaving the team can have a great impact on the overall performance of CSK.

The left handed batsman Suresh Raina has a wonderful international career. Recently along side Dhoni it was Raina too who ended his career by providing a service of 13 years to the Indian Cricket Team. During this period he played 18 Tests, 228 ODIs and 78 T20s.

Suresh Raina was one of the most consistent and important players among the Chennai team. The numbers speak for themselves as the 33 year old player around 193 games for the franchise and scored 5000 runs with a strike rate of around 140. He even picked 25 wickets.

Earlier it was reported that Suresh Raina have stepped up to promote cricket in Jammu and Kashmir. This initiative will provide opportunities to the underprivileged kids who are unaware of the fact that they have a career in cricket too. The 33 year old wanted to return the favour to the beautiful game by doing his bit. He addressed a letter to the state DGP Dilbagh Singh by expressing his views.

Suresh Raina addressed that he had spent over 15 years on the cricket field and now wanted to use that knowledge, skills and experience in the right manner to promote cricket and pass on the job to the next generation.

The major objective behind this act is to find talented youngsters from various states of India, he added.

The cricket in Jammu Kashmir has never been on a high level when compared to the other states. They have always struggled to perform even after their debut in the Ranji Trophy in the year 1959-60. Talking about this decade the J&K team has done well under Parvez Rasool as they reached the quarter finals in 2013-14. Another year later we witnessed the biggest upset in the cricketing history as they defeat the 42 time champions Mumbai in their stadium at Wankhede. Recently in 2019 they had a good season and were able to make it till the knockouts.

There is a lot of history behind J&K cricket as the team has been involved with high profile coaches like Bishan Singh Bedi who was in charge in 2012. On the other hand the state team is handled by the former Indian all rounder Irfan Pathan. Rasik Salim was the product of Pathan’s Academy and was the youngest ever player to debut for Mumbai in 2019 IPL.

Some youngsters who made their way to the IPL included the likes of Abdul Samad, the 18 year old was picked by Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2019. Not to forget that Rasool from J&K was the only player from his state to appear in the Indian National Team and even play in the IPL. He was a part of Pune warriors India.
