Neeraj Chopra won another gold medal for India.

He became the first Indian to achieve a gold medal in the World Athletic Championships.

Born and brought up

He was born into the Haryani Ror family in Khandra, Panipat District, Haryana, on December 24, 1997.

His father is a farmer, and he has two sisters in his family.

He went to the BVN Public School for his schooling, and after that, he went to the Dayanand Anglo-Vedic College in Chandigarh.

Later, he was pursuing a Bachelor of Arts from Lovely Professional University in Jalandhar in 2021.

Athletics Career

Akshay Choudhary was his first coach, he saw talent in Neeraj as he achieved distance of 40 meters in Javelin throw without any practice.

After noticing that, he started to train him, and he soon won a bronze medal in the district championship.

He trained under him for a year and then got admitted to the Tau Devi Lal Sports Complex in Panchkula.

While practicing over there, he trained himself and increased his range.

On October 27, 2012, he won his first gold medal and set a new national record of 68.40m.

India Debut

After becoming the national record holder in 2013, he represented India in the World Youth Championships.

In 2014, he won his first international medal with a throw of 70 meters, winning the silver medal in the Youth Olympics.

The next year, he broke the world record in the junior category, achieving a distance of 81.04m.

After this, he never looked back, as in 2016, he won three medals.

Which includes two gold medals and a silver medal. He won the silver medal in the Asian Junior Championship.

And gold medals in the South Asian Games and the World Junior Championship.

After this, in 2017, he won the gold medal at the Asian Championships.

In 2018, he won two gold medals, one in the Asian Games and one in the Commonwealth Games.

He became the second Indian to win a gold medal in the Olympics, as he won the gold medal in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

In 2022, he won the gold medal in the Diamond League and the silver medal in the World Athletics Championships.

And in 2023, he completed his gold medal tally by winning the gold medal at the World Championships.

Neeraj won a gold medal in every league and tournament and became the only person to win a gold medal.
