After launching a gaming creator program in January, Facebook on Thursday unveiled its Gaming Creator page. This page takes away audience from most popular online game streaming hubs like YouTube and Twitch.

Facebook launched a dedicated game streaming hub nested under its main website, over at Fb.gg. The home page will feature streams from players a user follows and a selection of featured creators. Users can follow any player by liking players’ page or group. This new portal also includes streams of esports and gaming events. Facebook will pay professional players for broadcasting their play exclusively to other Facebook users.

FB.gg takes users to a Twitch-like page that allows them to drop in on live and pre-recorded videos of games. On Fb.gg, about 3,000 people are actively streaming Fortnite for an audience of around 210,000, which puts it close to the audience numbers for the game on Twitch.

Facebook has also added a Level Up program that will help streamers to build a fan base and earn money from fan subscriptions. Level Up members will also have early access to new features and advice from established gaming creators.

Facebook future plans

“We’re in an experimental phase and will continue to test new experiences, including a feed where fans can explore relevant gaming content, improvements to recommendations and expanded gaming video inventory in more languages.”- Facebook stated.

Facebook is also planning for an instant tab for a mobile version of gaming site so that user can easily toggle between watching a video and streaming a game.
