After having a quite dull phase, Indian smartphone brand Micromax seems to be eying for big growth. Along with its efforts to establish itself in the entry level and mid range smartphone segment, the company is targeting to increase its market-share by winning the feature-phone segment.

In a recent interview with economic times, chief marketing officer of Micromax Shubhajit Sen said that the company is eyeing to sell around 6 million Bharat 4G LTE phones in the country. The move of focusing on the feature phone segment will help the company increase its market-share and to compete with the Chinese brands.

Shubhajit Sen further stated that the company is launching Bharat 1 and Bharat 2 phones in the same regard. Bharat 2 will be launched by the end of March or beginning of April and at the same time Bharat 1 will be launched at a later stage. He also claimed that the company is already in talks with telecom operators for possible collaborations.

While being asked about the need of equipping 4G VoLTE on feature phones, he claimed that there is a big need for the same and it will further increase with the penetration of VoLTE in the coming time, specially in tier 2 and tier 3 cities.

Bharat 1 will be priced at 1999, however, the launch date is still unknown.
