Sony unveiled their latest flagship smartphone, the Sony Xperia XZ1 earlier this month in IFA Berlin. The OEM is all set to launch the same in India on 25th September at an event hosted in New Delhi.

The Sony Xperia XZ1 offers a premium full metal unibody design with flagship class specifications, so, the device will be priced at INR 50,000 or higher.

Tech specifications:

The device features a 5.2-inch Full HD IPS LCD panel, with a Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection on the top. Under the hood, the device is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 Octa-core SoC, paired with 4 GB LPDDR4 RAM and 64 GB onboard flash storage with a dedicated micro SD card slot (up to 256 GB). The display is HDR enabled by Sony’s Triluminous display and X-Reality technology.

Internationally the device offers single SIM card slot, but the Indian variant will offer dual SIM card slot with 4G LTE and Volte capability out of the box. In terms of operating system, the device comes with Android Oreo 8.0 with custom UI on the top. As the Sony smartphones are known for their water and dust resistance feature, Xperia XZ1 also comes with an IP68 certification.

The main attraction for the Xperia XZ1 is the camera. The MotionEye 19-megapixel Exmor RS sensor camera offers 3D sensing capability, along with slow-motion video recording capability up to 960 frames per second. The front-facing 13 MP camera does offer 1080p video recording with a wide-angle selfie feature.

The device packs a 2700 mAh battery with fast charging capability via USB type C port. The device also supports USB OTG as well. The device does offer fingerprint scanner (on the power button) with active scanning capability. This device goes against the HTC U11 Ultra, Samsung Galaxy S8 and LG G6 in India.
