Vivo recently launched its sub-brand iQOO in China, which is touted to be focusing on futuristic premium smartphones. Now, it seems the first device coming out under the iQOO brand could be a foldable smartphone. Photos of the smartphone from iQOO have been shared on Weibo and the pictures suggest that the device will be a foldable smartphone which can be unfolded to transform into a tablet. Notably, Samsung has also announced the release of its foldable smartphone on February 20 in San Francisco.

The photos of the upcoming iQOO smartphone, that were leaked on Weibo, suggest that the device can be used a handset when folded and as a tab when unfolded. The display in the smartphone mode on the device shows icons at the bottom of the of the screen, giving us a fair idea of the real state of the screen on the device.

The photos also suggest that there will be zero to negligible bezels on the device with no holes or notch accompanying the selfie camera. This also suggests that Vivo will be incorporating the selfie camera under the display or go with a mechanical pop-up camera.

The phone is tipped to be priced at CNY 5,000 (roughly ₹53,000). Apart from the photos, the tipster does not reveal any more specific details about the device. Nevertheless, there is no word from Vivo regarding the availability and specifications of the device.

In terms of foldable phones, various smartphone manufacturers including Huawei, Samsung, and Xiaomi have been working on their own respective device. Huawei even teased the foldable phone in its MWC invite with a note that reads “Connecting the future.” While Xiaomi released an unofficial video of its foldable smartphone where the company showcased a smartphone with dual folds.
