A Japan court has ruled out on Friday that it will be extending the detention period of former Nissan chairman Carlos Ghosn until April 22, as prosecutors were looking into allegations of financial misconduct.

Until then Ghosn will be held under custody at a Tokyo detention centre, where authorities will either release him, arrest him or have to push formal charges, depending over his answer to accusations, according to Al-Jazeera news reports.

Prosecutors are reading charges of Ghosn who was alleged for syphoning off $5 million from funds transferred from Nissan to a dealer. However, Ghosn reiterated its denial over all the charges levelled against him by prosecutors.

Former Nissan chief Carlos Ghosn was detained again on Thursday for the fourth time by Japan prosecutors over suspicions of breach of trust.

According to ANI news reports, Ghosn’s re-arrest has come days after he was legally released on bail by an apex court of Tokyo after spending some 108 days in detention, indicted over charges of underreporting income for Nissan Motor and aggravated breach of trust.

Ghosn was fired as the chairman of both Mitsubishi Motors and Nissan following his detention in last year’s December after which he resigned as the CEO and chairman of French carmaker Renault.

Ghosn has described his re-arrest as “outrageous and arbitrary” in an official statement released by his United States agent.
