India and its neighbour Pakistan was slated to hold discussions related to Kartarpur corridor on Tuesday. Officials from both nations are expected to hold talks over technical aspects regarding the construction of the corridor, as well as, roads, maps and fencing.

According to ANI news reports, a team of Pakistani delegation will be composed of Pakistan’s ministry of foreign affairs, Federal Work Organization (FWO) and the ministry of religious affairs, who are scheduled to attend the dialogues on Tuesday.

Local media has claimed Islamabad had yet completed about 50 per cent of construction work of the Kartarpur corridor.

The development has come after India delayed the dialogues due to alleged reports surfacing over the invitation of “controversial elements” by Islamabad into a committee which was associated with the corridor. Both the countries were earlier scheduled on April 2 to hold the second round of the Karpartpur corridor talks.

According to India’s external affairs ministry spokesperson Raveesh Kumar, despite delaying the scheduled round of talks, India offered to hold technical talks with the Pakistani officials in order to discuss other aspects.

On March 14, both countries agreed to work “expeditiously” together to operationalize the Kartarpur Sahib Corridor and further decided to hold discussions between both sides on March 19, which was expected to be followed by another round of dialogues on April 2 over the issue, which India had postponed.

According to ANI news reports, an eighteen-member team of Pakistani delegation, led by DG (SAARC and SA) of Pakistan’s ministry of foreign affairs Mohammad Faisal, has arrived in New Delhi on March 14. The Indian delegation was led by SCL Das, joint secretary in the ministry of home affairs.
