London, June 25: Conservative Party leadership contender Boris Johnson has on Monday said he was preparing to take Britain out of the European Union (EU) as scheduled in October with or without any deal anyhow, seeking to retrieve momentum in his bid to become new prime minister of the United Kingdom (UK), as well as, leader of the Conservative Party.

According to Reuters news reports, the ex-mayor from London is still ahead in the race to replace Prime Minister Theresa May but however, his lead had been disturbed by media reports of an escalated late-night row with his girlfriend that caused police entering his home.

Johnson’s rival, foreign secretary Jeremy Hunt has lambasted on Johson for not debating with him in public, terming his as a “coward”.

Johnson has refused to comment over the argument during an exclusive interview with BCC News, instead, he doubled down over his vow to deliver Brexit on October 31 with or without a deal, if necessary.

“My pledge is to come out of the EU at Halloween on 31 October,” Johnson said. He added, “And the way to get our friends and partners to understand how serious we are is finally, I’m afraid, to abandon the defeatism and negativity that has enfolded us in a great cloud for so long and to prepare confidently and seriously for … a no-deal outcome.”

He further said he didn’t seek a no-deal Brexit but, it was important to put forth on the table in order to get the result which Britain wanted.
