In an interview with the Press regarding the developments in the NAFTA negotiations on 23rd May, President Donald Trump did not hesitate to call Canada a “very spoiled” country which was “very difficult to deal with” regarding trade matters. The North American Free Trade Agreement had been signed by Canada, Mexico, and the United States back in 1994, and was meant to a trilateral trade bloc in North America. However, since the past few days, President Trump had accused of Canada and Mexico for collaborating together to inflict harm upon the Unites States by offering unfair trade proposals as renegotiations in the free trade pact.

President Donald Trump gave a statement to the reporters where he commented on the fact that both Mexico and Canada had become growingly more difficult to deal with. According to him, the US was being flanked on both sides by the countries which were repeatedly taking advantage of the States’ lenient trade policies. However, Trump assured the citizens that he was not ready to comply with each and every offer initiated by Canada and Mexico, and intended to make America win, and “win big.”

In a continuing statement, President Donald Trump blamed Canada for becoming extremely spoiled and asking for things an allied country was not supposed to ask of them. According to Trump, the United States of America had gotten along with both Mexico and Canada extremely well, but never before had such unfair and spoiled demands been made towards them. Despite the fact that no official NAFTA meetings are expected to be held in this week, Chrystia Freeland, the Foreign Affairs Minister has confirmed that the leaders of all three countries continue their constant negotiations.
