Sydney, July 30: Australia’s foreign minister Marise Payne on Tuesday said the United States is discussing to establish $211.5 million worth military infrastructure in his nation once the Congress grants approval to the American navy.
According to Reuters news reports, the plans for a greater U.S. impression in Australia come when the Western partners have turned out to be progressively worried by China’s endeavors to extend its impact in the Pacific.
“The development of facilities will support the Force Posture Initiatives,” Payne told Sky News, while referring to deals reached between the US and Australia in 2011 to deepen their bilateral defence ties.
Those activities involve 2,500 U.S. Marines preparing in Australia every year, and customary joint training between the partners’ aviation forces.
Payne did not say what military foundation the United States planned to manufacture, however, the Australian media has announced not long ago Washington had plans for another port office close to Darwin, the capital of Australia’s Northern Territory.
