Aston Martin DBX 707, BMW XM and Lamborghini Urus Performante – these are some familiar names you would have heard before. But, the interesting part about all of them is they are known for their performance rather than luxury. Seems like that’s how a niche market has been created and that’s how carmakers are trying everything within their reach so as to rule the respective segments. Now, the problem is these SUVs are very expensive. So, trying to fill this wide gap BMW has tried its hand on the all-new BMW X3 M40i. It is a power-packed version of the already existing X3 and the carmaker is sure that they want to try it out in India.

Want to learn more about this SUV? Well, here are all the details related to the all-new BMW X3 M40i xDrive below.

HIGHLIGHTS:

  • BMW X3 M40i is about to make its debut in India.
  • Launch of the powerful SUV is slated for this May.
  • To be available with a 3.0-litre six-cylinder engine.

BMW X3 M40i: What can we expect?

Exterior & Interior

Several changes are expected to be witnessed inside out and they will be model-specific. Multiple M Badges, M Alloys, M Sport Brakes and edition-specific rear differential can be expected to be a part of the package on the outside. On the inside, the changes will be limited.

Engine

A 3.0-litre six-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine is expected to power the new X3 M40i. Sources suggest this unit is capable of churning out a massive 360 horsepower with a torque output rated at 500Nm. Also, just like any other SUV from BMW, this one will get an all-wheel drive system for enough grip. Transmission duties on the other hand will be handled by an 8-speed automatic gearbox.

Coming to performance, BMW emphasises bringing hybrid technology onboard for some extra punch. This way, a 48V mild hybrid system has been deployed so it can work in conjunction with the ICE to push the SUV from 0-100kmph in just 4.9 seconds. The top speed although has been electronically limited to 250kmph.

Rivals

As soon as the BMW X3 M40i arrives, it will compete with Porsche Macan S. Sadly, no other SUVs from this segment have really got a power-packed variant of the same here in India.

BMW has confirmed that bookings for the upcoming X3 M40i can now be placed against a token amount of Rs.5 Lakhs. However, it is not on the dealership level and the units allotted for India are very limited. To place orders, customers need to visit BMW Online Shop. Thankfully, the SUV is expected to roll out in India by May 2023.
