Crossovers are a blend of hatchbacks and SUVs. Initially, Mercedes-Benz introduced GLA to compete against the BMW X1 and Audi Q3. However, soon after its launch, this affordable crossover managed to establish its own unique identity. The German brand has already sold a decent number of first-generation GLA in India. And therefore, we expect the upcoming Mercedes-Benz GLA to perform up to par as well.

Ofcourse it is coming to India. And just for your information, the carmaker has already started accepting bookings for the same. For now, the customers who wish to own the all-new GLA can place their orders against a token amount of Rs.1,00,000.

HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Mercedes-Benz India is now accepting bookings for the second-generation GLA.
  • Multiple cosmetic and feature updates are expected to be a part of the 2021 GLA.
  • Dual screens similar to the A-Class Limousine will be offered on the updated crossover.

In terms of design, it is now available with a well-sculpted bonnet, slimmer looking LED headlamps, redesigned bumpers and a similar grille that we have already witnessed on the A-Class Limousine. The side profile of the all-new GLA features a new set of multi-spoke alloy wheels, large wheel arches and roof rails that makes this crossover look more like an SUV. Even at the rear, the German carmaker has updated it with new pair of LED taillights and a muscular tailgate.

Looks like Mercedes-Benz GLA is on steroids. Want to know why? Because it is 104mm taller, 30mm wider and comes with a wheelbase that is stretched by around 30mm when compared to the older counterpart. Interestingly, the length of the all-new GLA is shorter by 14mm which in total stands at 4410mm.

Inside that cabin, it comes with a twin-screen setup where the first screen is reserved for a 10.25-inch fully digital instrument cluster. Just next to it stands a 10.25-inch MBUX touchscreen infotainment display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. Other features including a panoramic sunroof, wireless charging pad, dual-zone climate control, ambient lighting, etc. among others.

For enhanced safety of the occupants, Mercedes-Benz offers seven airbags, ABS with EBD, hill start assist and a 360-degree camera to name a few.

The carmaker has not revealed any details regarding the powertrain yet. But, we expect the all-new GLA to come with a 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel and a 1.3-litre turbo petrol engine. A sportier AMG variant is also expected to join the trim at a later stage. However, Mercedes-Benz is said to reveal the exact details on the day of launch itself. According to the sources, the all-new crossover is coming to India next month.
