The ongoing pandemic has really played a major role in determining the launch dates for many cars. However, Volkswagen has finally decided to start accepting bookings for its upcoming Taigun SUV from next month with a launch slated within that period only. There’s no confirmation regarding the launch date yet however, in terms of pricing, Volkswagen will remain aggressive for sure.

Should you wait for the upcoming VW Taigun? Yes, of course. But before that, just take a look at the details regarding the SUV right here.

HIGHLIGHTS:

Volkswagen Taigun

A well-known VW Group’s MQB A0 IN platform will be underpinning the upcoming Taigun. As a result, it is surely expected to be one of the best in terms of drive and handling. Talking about the design, the all-new SUV will be differentiated from the Skoda Kushaq with reworked headlamps, the brand’s signature grille and a new bumper. The side profile remains almost similar but again a new set of alloy wheels will help the SUV to stand out.

Inside the cabin, the upcoming Taigun feels more premium with minimum clutter. To be precise, some new panels have been added on the Taigun in addition to Kushaq. Feature-wise, it comes equipped with several features including a large 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system, multiple Type-C USB ports, wireless charger, automatic climate control and even a fully digital instrument cluster.

For occupants safety, Volkswagen has decided to offer several protection aids such as six airbags, ESC, tyre pressure monitoring system and ISOFIX child seat mounts just to name a few.

Just like the Kushaq, the customers of the upcoming Taigun will get the option to choose between 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbo petrol or a 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbo petrol engine. Both of them are VW sourced motors, therefore, expect them to produce 115HP and 150HP respectively.

Interestingly, the gearbox options will also remain the same. To be precise, a 6-speed manual, 6-speed torque convertor and a 7-speed DSG gearbox will be available according to the variants.

Alternatives

In India, the upcoming Volkswagen Taigun will compete against some well-established rivals such as Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq, MG Hector and Tata Harrier. Want to learn more about its primary rival? Well, take a look at the Skoda Kushaq right here.
