Mahindra has recently announced the bidding for the first unit of the second generation Mahindra Thar for a noble cause. With a reserve price of ₹25 Lakh on the first day of bidding started and the highest bidding amount on that same day reached to ₹80 Lakh mark. However, on the last day, Akash Minda, CEO of Spark Minda won the bidding at ₹92.50 Lakh. The highest bidder, meanwhile, also got the opportunity to choose the color and variants of the second-generation Mahindra Thar of his choice. However, the bidding amount on the other hand will be donated to the Swadesh Foundation for the COVID-19 relief and recovery program.
The second generation Mahindra Thar comes with a 2.0L Petrol and 2.2L Diesel engine. The 2.0L petrol engine produces 152BHP of power and 300 Nm of torque . Meanwhile, the 2.2L diesel engine produces 132BHP of power along with a peak torque of 300 Nm.
Inside the cabin, the 2020 Mahindra Thar comes with a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, cruise control, steering mounted controls, MID for the instrument cluster and roof-mounted speakers. Meanwhile, the infotainment display on the all-new Mahindra Thar is also compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Safety features such as dual airbags, ABS with EBD, hill start assist, ISO-FIX child seat, etc are also there on the Mahindra Thar.
The 2020 Mahindra Thar will directly rival the Force Gurkha in India. However, the upcoming Maruti Suzuki Jimny will also be a prime rival to this SUV.
