Land Rover has revealed the Defender SUV globally at the beginning of this year. However, the launch of the Land Rover Defender in India is scheduled for 15 October. The company on the other hand is expected to deliver the first unit of the all-new Defender on the same day. Meanwhile, Land Rover has also announced that it will launch the Defender 110 in India initially. However, the company will launch the Defender 90 after some time, globally.
Both, Land Rover Defender 90 and 110 SUVs draw its power from a 2.0L four-cylinder, turbo petrol engine. This engine produces 300BHP of power with a peak torque of 400Nm and comes paired to an 8-speed automatic gearbox. Meanwhile, both the SUVs come with the all-wheel drive powertrain.
The all-new Defender inside the cabin gets a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment display as well as a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster on the top variant. However, the SUV also comes with electrically adjustable seats, a 360-degree camera, a Meridian surround sound system and heated seats. The Land Rover Defender SUV gets five trims on offer, precisely – base, S, SE, HSE and First Edition.
In India, the Land Rover Defender 110 chief competitors are the Mercedes Benz G350 and Jeep Wrangler. However, the Defender 90 at this price point does not get a direct rival here. However, the price of the all-new Land Rover Defender starts at ₹76.57 Lakh onwards.
