The front profile of a 5 series can never be so exciting but surprisingly, this one literally gets it. Usage of chrome black on the front kidney grille, new pair of BMW Laserlights, L-shaped double DRLs and a model-specific bumper is there to enhance the overall appearance.

Even the rear end of it features a well illuminated LED taillamps and a subtle rear spoiler finished in chrome black. Even the sports exhausts on the M5 Competition are there with a similar treatment.

For your information, it runs on 20-inch M-light alloy wheels with adaptive M suspension inspired by the M8.

Nothing new but for a performance sedan, the equipment inside does feel premium. Merino leather for an upmarket look has been introduced on the M5 Competition albeit with three different colours including Black, Aragon Brown and Silverstone.

There are lots of M-specific elements and to begin with, it gets M – sports seats, leather steering wheel, seat belts, pedals and footrests among others.

Unlike other performance sports cars, this one comes with a lot of practicality. To start with, it gets four-zone climate control, the brand’s latest seventh-generation 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, 12.3-inch fully digital instrument cluster, 16-speaker Harman Kardon surround sound system, wireless charger and heads-up display. Customers who further wish to opt for the Bowers & Wilkins Diamond surround sound system can go for them as well.

Engine & Performance

First and foremost, this is not the standard 5 Series. Under the hood, it uses a 4.4-litre V8 engine with the brand’s M Twin Power Turbo technology. Putting the overall output in numbers, this unit propels a massive 625HP and 750Nm of torque while being paired to an 8-speed Steptronic transmission as standard. For better grip and handling, the M5 Competition features the brand’s xDrive four-wheel drive powertrain which can also be switched to 2WD as per the requirement.

Let’s talk about performance. Well, this sedan can clock a triple-digit speed in the blink of an eye and to be precise, just 3.3 seconds are required for the same. The top speed of the new M5 Competition stands at 305kmph.

Safety Equipment

German carmakers are really strict about occupants safety. Therefore, the new M5 Competition comes with six airbags, ABS with Brake Assist, Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), Dynamic Traction Control (DTC) and side-impact protection just to name a few.
