The new Kushaq looks absolutely stunning from all four ends. For starters, it comes equipped with sleek LED headlamps, the brand’s signature grille, muscular bonnet hood and front skid plate. Coming to the side and rear profile, the carmaker has managed to incorporate 17-inch sporty alloy wheels and LED taillamps respectively. Interestingly, to offer an individual experience, this SUV is also available with five exterior shades, including Candy White, Carbon Steel, Tornado Red, Honey Orange and Reflex Silver.

Inside the cabin, Kushaq does feel like a typical Skoda car. A layout that consists of a twin-spoke steering wheel, analogue instrument cluster, large AC vents and a floating touchscreen infotainment system feels well balanced. Similarly, other features such as ambient lighting, electric sunroof, automatic climate control and ventilated front seats are also a part of the feature’s list.

Engine

Under the hood, this hot-seller is available with a 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine. To be precise, this motor is capable enough of producing a decent 115PS and 175Nm. Skoda has even considered the people who love driving. As a result, the carmaker even offers a powerful 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbocharged engine that is limited to the top-end variants.

Transmission duties for both of them are managed by a 6-speed manual gearbox. However, for added convenience, the smaller displacement engine comes with a 6-speed torque converter while the latter one is available with a 7-speed DSG.

Alternatives

Compact SUV is the most popular segment in India. Just like the Kushaq, even other best sellers such as Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, MG Astor and Volkswagen Tiguan among others are also a part of the best selling segment. Starting with the monthly sales figure, Hyundai has managed to sell over 10,000 units of Creta in November 2021 alone. Now, straightaway coming to the main reason behind its massive success is the availability of multiple engine options (including the diesel unit). Also, unlike other SUVs, the second generation Creta has a lot of road presence.

Back then, the carmaker did not want to risk anything. As a result, they have introduced several modern features including a large panoramic sunroof, split LED headlamps, cooled glovebox, terrain response modes and ventilated seats depending upon the variant.
