Most awaited, Suzuki revealed the new generation Jimny and by the looks of it, the mini SUV looks a lot better than its previous model. The model has an updated design that still maintains the SUV’s traits. The car comes with many additional features and modern connectivity options. The most important highlights of the Jimny are the new 1.5L petrol engine and the 4WD drivetrain which is more off-road focused.

The new Jimny continues to be a 2 door design and is a serious off-roader. It comes with a ladder frame construction, four-wheel drive with low range gearing and high profile tires. The car continues to have a retro look as seen in the previous models. The grille has a 5 slat design and has circular lights on either side. The front bumpers look quite small when seen but is highly functional and house the headlamps. The dash has a blocky design with separate housing for the touchscreen, air con vents, and toggle switches.

The Japan-spec Jimny SUV comes with a 0.6 liter R06A turbo engine whereas the Jimny SUV that is to be sold in the international market comes with a 1.5-litre K15B engine, which replaces the 1.3 L unit of the previous model. Suzuki claims that the engine has a stronger torque output. It is also said that the new unit is 15% lighter and has more efficiency as well.

The car comes with Suzuki’s Allgrip Pro AWD system that gets a low range transfer gear and 3 driving modes. This can be engaged with the help of the shift lever which is on the transfer case. The Jimny’s angle of approach is 49 degree and has a ground clearance of 210mm.

When it comes to safety the all-new Suzuki Jimny is equipped with Duel Sensor Brake Support (DSBS), an audio and visual warning system, increase in braking force in an effort to avoid a collision. It also comes with Lane departure warning and weaving alert function along with driver kept alert, traffic sign recognition and high beam assist.

The price of the car has not been revealed yet. The previous model was about 11.86 lakh so the expected price of the present model may be about 15.52 lakh if the car were to be sold in India, the production may happen locally. And since this car is a premium offspring, the Jimny could be sold through the Nexa dealerships in the country.
