The Union Health Ministry has formally announced that the counselling process for NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) MDS 2021 Exam will begin this month, from August 20.

Following the Ministry’s announcement, the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) released a detailed schedule for the candidates who have qualified in the NEET MDS exam for admissions in PG courses.

The announcement regarding NEET MDS counselling dates was made following the order of honourable Supreme Court of India which came out in from the hearing held on 9th August.

The Apex court directed the MCC to take a final decision on the counselling dates and inform the Court as soon as possible because the process has been already delayed by 8 months due to the pandemic.

In response, the Union Health Ministry on behalf of Central government submitted a report before the Supreme Court division bench comprising of Justice MR Shah and Justice DY Chandrachud.

NEET-MDS 2021 Counselling schedule

The counselling schedule for NEET-MDS 2021 released by the MCC is as follows;

  • Application process begins- August 20, 2021
  • End of Application process- August 24, 11:55 PM
  • Choice-filling window- August 21 to August 22
  • Seat allocation process- August 25 and 26
  • Declaration of Counselling result- August 27
  • Reporting period for admission confirmation at allotted institute- August 28 to September 1
  • Second round of registrations- September 6 to 9
  • Reporting period for second round- September 14 to 18
  • Registrations for Mop-Up round- September 24 to September 27, 12 noon.

Important Instructions regarding counselling process;

  • Candidates can choose colleges as per their preference during choice-filling.
  • It is compulsory for candidates to undergo document verification and Fee submission for confirming their admission.
  • If a candidate fails to do so, the alloted seat will be passed on the next round.
  • The Mop-Up round will only be held if there are any vacant seats left.
  • A seat matrix for the Mop-Up round will be released separately on September 18.

Counselling to be held online

The Health ministry has informed the supreme court that complete counselling process will be conducted through online mode only via the official website of MCC, that is mcc.nic.in.

Also, the existing reservation policy will be used for admissions in PG courses. The changes made by central government in reservation policy are not applicable this year.
