The Indian Institute of Science (IISC) Bangalore has launched a program to offer free online course on IoT or Internet of Things. The course is meant to exhibit the process of Smart object designing in order to provide collaboration and services which are accessible from everywhere. The course will be available for students from July 26.
Interested candidates can enroll themselves till 2nd of August via the official website of NPTEL that is http://nptel.ac.in. The application for this course is free-of-cost. IIM Rohtak will conduct a Physical or proctored certification exam. Enrolled candidates who wants a Course completion certificate will have to appear in this exam.
The exam will be held on 26th september and students will be charged Rs. 1000 as examination fees. The exam will be conducted in two sessions of three hours each, one from 9 AM to 12 Noon and the other from 2 PM to 5 PM. However, it is optional for students to appear in the exam.
Each student in the course will be given eight assignments to be completed in a fixed time period. Student will have to score an average of 25 percent in any of the six assignments inorder to be eligible for getting a certificate. The minimum score for eligibility in the certification exam will be 75 out of 100.
The course duration will be of eight weeks. Along with the advancement of course, students will learn to design any proposed application by choosing the appropriate hardware, software and procedures. Prototype of designs will be presented to the students in video format and system design procedure will be explained step-by-step.
The main highlight of the course is to design system which are energy efficient and has higher longevity. The course is said to be more ideal for students who are currently in postgraduate programs in Electrical engineering, Electronics and Communications and Engineering Control Instrumentation.
