The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) has announced the evaluation criteria for assessment of Class 12 or HSC students this year.

Similar to CBSE Board, the Maharashtra education Board will also evaluate about 14 lakh HSC students on the basis of their performance in previous three years.

Maharashtra Board will tabulate the results using scores achieved by students in class 10 final exams, class 11 final exams and class 12 mid-term exams and internal assessments.

Varsha Gaikwad, the school education minister of maharashtra, remarked the evaluation policy as an “ad-hoc arrangement” made by experts at the MSBSHSE in better interest of the students.

The minister said that this evaluation policy focuses on continuous and comprehensive assessment of students using credible data points. It uses the scores from realistic assessments held at schools in previous classes.

With the declaration of evaluation criteria, the education ministry has directed all the Board affiliated schools to begin process for preparation of results using this criteria.

The Maharashtra board has also decided to pass all the students and promote them to next classes. The students who score less then minimum marks will be awarded with grace marks so that they do not fail.

MSBSHSE has also made a provision to offer an additional chance for students to appear in improvement exams incase they are not satisfied with their results based on the Board’s evaluation criteria.

The results for Maharashtra Board Class 12 or HSC students will be declared by July 31 as per the instructions issued by supreme court for all state education boards.

Since the Class 12 Board exams were cancelled in the view of COVID-19 pandemic, the schools will have to tabulate a cumulative score of all the exams and tests conducted by them around the year like class tests, mid-term exams, pre-boards, etc.

MSBSHSE will use a 40:30:30 formula to divide the final results on the basis of three years. Here, 40 percent scores will be from class 12, 30 percent weightage will be from class 11 final results and rest 30 percent from final results of Class 10.
