When Bollywood was on the lines of submerging in the late 2000s, it was the regional cinema which took a step ahead of the Hindi Cinema to entertain the audience. The trend went so far that dubbing of regional movies began and people were admiring their gripping stories and these films turned out to be a mass entertainer.

Then as the time passed by, many Bollywood filmmakers decided to adopt the stories from regional cinema and then turn them into Hindi feature films and this concept turned out to be profitable for the industry as well as the filmmakers. But here the criteria of Business was satisfied, what about the Art of Cinema?

Somewhere down the line, the Bollywood film industry lost it’s relevance across the global Cinema and was known only for their formula of remaking regional Movies.

If we take a look at the last decade of Hindi Cinema, most of the films were remake of regional films. But now the time seems to be taking a turn and it seems to be an arrival of originality in Bollywood.

If we compare the last couple of years with the whole last decade, there are more original stories now, all thanks to filmmakers like Sriram Raghavan, Anurag Kashyap and Anurag Basu who believed in art rather than business. Also a special appreciation to the young filmmakers like Amit Sharma, Amar Kaushik and Hitesh Kewalya who have given us splendid cinema in last couple of years, keeping the craze of Bollywood alive.

So here’s thanking and saluting all these filmmakers who chose Art over Business.
