Confirmed! Akshay Kumar starring in spy thriller ‘Bell Bottom’ and it’s NOT a remake of South film; Check out RELEASE date

While the unofficial reports have been creating buzz about the potential collaboration of Akshay Kumar and Nikkhil Advani, the official confirmation has arrived with the details revealed.

The two are collaborating for a new film called Bell Bottom which is inspired by true events. The film will be a high action spy thriller set in the ’80s and will be directed by Lucknow Central director Ranjit Tiwari while Nikkhil will be one of the producers.

Akshay Kumar took to his social media account to make the big announcement. He also disclosed the release date of the film and his first look poster from the film. The film will hit the screens of cinema halls on 22 January next year.

He wrote, “Get ready to go back to the 80’s and hop onto a roller-coaster spy ride, #BELLBOTTOM! Releasing on 22nd January, 2021.”

The actor also clairifed that the film in question is not a remake of the Kannada film of the same name. Earlier reports were doing the round that the film would be Hindi remake of Bell Bottom: Adventures of Detective Divakar that came earlier this year.

He wrote, “#BellBottom is not a remake of any film, it is an original screenplay inspired by true events.”

Bell Bottom is produced by Vashu Bhagnani, Jackky Bhagnani, Deepshikha Deshmukh, Monisha Advani, Madhu Bhojwani and Nikkhil Advani.

The film will reportedly be shot in London. The makers are currently in talks with top actresses for the role of female lead.

With this spy-thriller added in the list, it seems Akshay Kumar has wide variety of films for his fans ahead. He has a comedy coming up called Good Newwz, an action-packed adventure, Sooryavanshi, a horror-comedy called Laxmmi Bomb and another historical drama, Prithviraj. And lastly, he also has another comedy-cum-action drama, Bachchan Pandey. It remains to be seen which project is liked by his fans the most.
