Canadian singer and songwriter Justin Bieber has announced a new single and a documentary series titled Justin Bieber: Seasons. It is set to premiere on YouTube on 27 January.

The ten-part series will premiere two episodes on Monday and Wednesday every week. According to a report by Variety, each video has cost YouTube $2 million. In total, the complete season of this series has been made in $20 million. It is believed to be the costliest acquisition for YouTube Original Content.

Previously, the video streaming platform has released documentaries on music like Ariana Grande: Dangerous Women Diaries (2018), How To Be: Mark Ronson (2019), Demi Lovato: Simply Complicated (2017) and the performance video Coldplay: Everyday Life – Live in Jordan (2019).

Susanne Daniels, who is YouTube’s global head of content, told Variety that Bieber’s “inspiring story” and “courage as an artist” drew the company to the project, adding that it “[aims] to spotlight authentic struggles and real-life triumphs.”

A preview video of the series had aired on ABC’s Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2020 which included a special message from the “Baby” singer.

The trailer of Justin Bieber: Seasons was released on New Year’s eve on his official YouTube channel, giving a glimpse of the documentary that delves into his personal life and professional struggles.
