A new era is upon us. Things are changing everywhere and women are headlining big films, a much needed positive change. In light of this new scenario, Disney are turning one their renowned film franchise, Pirates of the Caribbean into an all women led film. The original film series which starred Johnny Depp in the lead, had grossed around $4.5 billion dollars.
Bringing this news to everyone, ‘The Hollywood Reporter’, reported that Margot Robbie will be leading the film. The actor, is known for films such as Suicide Squad, Birds of Prey, and I Tonya.
Further, the source reported that, the story of the film is being written by Christina Hodson, who is known for ‘Birds Of Prey’. While, director of the Pirates series, Jerry Bruckheimer is producing the film.
Though, this movie is not be confused with the Pirates movie announced last year. Both of the projects are independent of each other as per the source.
Hollywood has recently seen a lot of famous film franchises going in a new direction. Several film franchises are being made with female cast in the lead. Ocean’s 8(2018) starring Sandra Bullock and Cate Blanchett is one of the examples, as is Ghostbusters(2016) starring Melissa McCarthy.
