Alfred Hitchcock’s popular saying goes as “To make a great film you need three things, a Good Script, a Good Script, and a Good Script.” The saying is popular in the world of Cinema as it emphasizes on the importance of Stories. When it comes to Indian Cinema, over the years, we have witnessed a tons of stories exploring different themes. And in this world of filmmaking there are often instances of creative clashes relating to dates, stories, concepts, etc.

So here’s taking a look at stories that were turned into multiple versions of Cinema.

Phullu and Padman

Padman and Phullu

Directed by Abhishek Saxena, the film titled Phullu portrayed the story of an illiterate man who realizes the issues women go through during the menstruation period. He then sets out spreading awareness in order to help the needy women of the rural and undeveloped regions. While Akshay Kumar starrer Padman was inspired from the real life of Arunachalam Muruganantham, a social activist from Tamil Nadu who worked for the cause of hygienic menstruation and providing quality sanitary pads to women at lower costs. After Padman’s release there were a lot of legal clashes between the makers of these two films.

Battle of Saragarhi and Kesari

Though Rajkumar Santoshi’s Battle of Saragarhi never got made, it was in 2016 when he announced this film. And Akshay Kumar announced his film Kesari in 2018 and within a year the film was released in theatres. Both these films had a similar story which was based on the Battle of Saragarhi of 1897. Randeep Hooda was preparing for his role in Santoshi’s film and in meantime Kesari was released.

There are various stories based on the life of Bhagat Singh, the famous freedom fighter and similarly two movies i.e two biopics of Bhagat Singh clashed in 2002. One where Ajay Devgn played the lead and the other one had Bobby Deol playing Bhagat Singh. Though both the films failed at the box office, Bobby’s performance received a lot of praises as well as award.
