Lenovo has revealed its next generation of gaming smartphone- Lenovo Legion Duel 2 (Lenovo Legion Phone 2 Pro in China). The new gaming-intended smartphone comes with everything one would expect in a gaming device. The smartphone has a futuristic design with multiple air triggers, a massive 5,500mAh battery, and a side-mounted pop-up selfie camera for live streaming.

The device boasts a 6.92-inch Samsung E4 AMOLED display with a resolution of 2,460 x 1,080 pixels and a 144Hz refresh rate. The display has a touch sampling rate of 720Hz, an 8-bit HDR panel with a Pixelworks i6 chipset, and a peak brightness of 1,300nits. Gorilla Glass 5 covers the display. The display has symmetrical bezels at the top and bottom.

As for the cameras, the device sports a dual-camera setup at the rear with a 64MP Omnivision sensor with f/1.9 lens and a 16MP sensor with f/2.2 ultra-wide-angle lens with 123-degree field-of-view. The front camera is where things get interesting. The front camera is placed under the power button on the right side of the device. It is a 44MP pop-up camera.

The device packs a 5,500mAh battery which supports 90W fast-charging, which the company claims can fully charge the battery in 30 minutes. The battery is split into two 2,750mAh batteries and placed on either side of the fans for symmetry. It can be charged via two USB Type-C ports simultaneously. However, a 65W fast-charging brick is provided in the retail box.

Front-firing stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos are placed under the bezels on the display. The speakers also feature a Game Mode for a more immersive gaming experience. The phone comes with two force touchpoints in the display, two pairs of ultrasonic shoulder triggers on the side frame, and a pair of capacitive keys on the back of the device for more control while gaming.

Lenovo Legion Duel 2 Rear Design

At the rear, a square-shaped housing is offered that carries the rear cameras, cooling fans, and the RGB logo. The two fans work in tandem. The bottom one takes hot air passing it through the copper heat sink, while the other one works as a exhaust. Lenovo claims that the new design increases the thermal efficiency by 30-percent as compared to the first generation Legion Phone.

Lenovo Legion Duel 2 Color Options

Lenovo Legion Duel 2 is offered in two color options- Ultimate Black and Titanium White. The smartphone starts from CNY 3,699( Rs. 42,200) for the 8GB + 128GB storage options and goes as high as CNY 5,999( Rs 68,452) for the 18GB + 512GB storage variants in China.

The gaming smartphone is currently available in China only, however, the device will hit the European markets in May. Lenovo is yet to reveal the Indian availability of the smartphone.

Considering the gaming nature of the smartphone, it will rival ASUS ROG Phone 5 and Nubia Red Magic 6 series smartphones. Both the smartphones are powered by Snapdragon 888 SoC and 64MP triple-camera setup. The Red Magic 6 smartphone has a 165Hz refresh rate and 5,050mAh battery, on the other hand, ROG Phone 5 features a 144Hz refresh rate panel with a massive 6,000mAh battery that is split into two 3,000mAh batteries. It will be an interesting rivalry among the gaming-centric smartphones with flagship specifications and a similar price range.
