OnePlus may be the favorite phone for most of the people, as the latest report about OnePlus becoming the top premium smartphone in India suggests, but it is not void of any imperfections or problems.
Recently we reported about the bug that randomly resets the battery optimization on OnePlus phones even after turning it off manually. Now, it seems the OnePlus 6 and 6T are facing microphone issues: many users have reported experiencing issues with call and recording quality in third-party apps like Snapchat and WhatsApp.
There have been various reports about this issue, some even going back to the middle of last year. The issue presents itself while using third-party apps like Snapchat, Facebook Messenger, and WhatsApp. Users of these apps are experiencing tinny and distant audio. In an experiment, a Reddit user named FluffyGuy2 said the affected apps are exclusively using the top microphone, which is meant to be used for noise cancellation.
For unspecified reasons, not all the third-party apps are affected. Instagram, for example, does not suffer from this problem on OnePlus devices. Apart from OnePlus 6 and 6T, some users have also pointed out this issue in the OnePlus 5T and some of the reports also go back to the OnePlus 3. This could mean that it is a software problem rather than a hardware issue.
Some reports also speculate that this microphone issue with the third-party apps might be the reason OnePlus users find it difficult to launch the Assistant on OnePlus 6 and 6T.
Notably, OnePlus has halted the OxygenOS Open Beta update for OnePlus 5 and 5T. The company, in its official forum, said the updates for OnePlus 5 and 5T has been paused due to a critical bug. The company has promised to roll out the Open Beta updates as soon as the bug is fixed.
