Ever since the first lockdown, the gaming industry has seen nothing but success as number of game downloads keeps on increasing. From 1.8 billion in Q1, it increased by 50% to 2.7 billion in India in Q2, as per data shown by analytics firm Sensor Tower.

Globally there has been a 27% year-over-year increase in player spendings in mobile games in the second quarter of this year to $19.3 billion even as game downloads increased by nearly 1 billion in India during the quarter.

The US and Brazil are two other countries that have a significant increase in game downloads with the US accumulating more than 1.4 billion in both quarters. Brazil generated close to 1.1 billion installs in the first quarter of this year, with downloads surging nine percent to 1.2 billion in the second quarter. The peak revenue of this year was in may, which generated $6.6 billion, registering a rise of 21.5% year-on-year.

Games like Roblox from Roblox Corporation and Fortnite from Epic Games experienced an increase in popularity on mobile devices due to COVID-19. PUBG has topped the chart as the highest grossing game globally during Q2 2020, generating close to $621 million in the quarter. That was down 8% from Q1 2020, when it generated $674.5 million.

Fortnite by Epic Games was on Apple’s App Store’s to-grossing games globally in Q2, as player spendings rised 110.7% quarter-over-quarter to $146.5 million.

Overall, when we talk about generating of revenue, the USA followed by Japan and China have topped the list with USA ranking NO. 1 in the first half of 2020.
