Rain havoc

Bangalore has witnessed the highest Mercury level; giving a threat to the residents. It was very difficult to cope up with the rising temperature in Bangalore. The city also saw an increase in the sale of Air Conditioners and Coolers, yet the heat was intolerable. The only option left with the people was to wait for the mercy of the Mother Earth. The monsoon was much awaited.

The city has been witnessing rain from couple of days, justifying Bangalore city in terms of the climate.  Heavy rainfall took away the essence of the heat, giving a relief to Bangalorerans.  As we all would agree, too much of anything is not good. The rainfall disrupted normal life in South Bangalore for more than 2 hours on Wednesday, leading to a chaos all over. The rain along with the wind had uprooted more than 30 trees in Basvangudi, Hanumathnagar and other parts of the city.  Hailstorms were also witnessed in some parts of the city.

A tree fell on a bus in Veerbhadra Nagar, making the movements impossible. The residents of VV Puram also had a tough time in clearing a giant tree which had collapsed on a car near Basappa Circle. In Hanumanthnagar, one electric pole fell on the road which was life threatening and the residents had to be without power. In Shankarpuram a compound wall of a house collapsed after a coconut tree fell on it and in the same area, eight houses were flooded with rain water. The Wednesday evening was a tough time for the residents of South Bangalore.

The metrological Department has predictions of the rainfall continuing till Sunday.  Thunderstorms are also expected. The Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike will be cleaning the drains to prevent water flooding into the houses due to rain.
