China launched a scathing attack on Wednesday, by mocking India’s ambition to replace China to fill the void created by the ongoing trade war between Washington and Beijing and termed India’s ambition as “a pie in the sky”.

Global Times, a Chinese news website wrote and claimed that India is nowhere in the competition with China in order of industrial capabilities, on the matter of manufacturing prowess.

Website has quoted minister of Commerce Suresh Prabhu as saying that it is quite obvious that India wants to be a part of trade pie of the world, having a bigger slice of it.

Prabhu further stated that “India will focus on boosting exports to the US and other global markets as Chinese shipments become unattractive”.

Though, Global Times reported: “India’s intention of gaining from the trade dispute between China and the US will likely prove to be pie in the sky, as the South Asian nation isn’t ready to take advantage of any such opportunity.”

Talking about US “posture” in regards with the ongoing trade war, the website said there’s no country, who can fill the void and replace China’s position.

It further stated: “This is especially the case in India, whose industrial capabilities still have a long way to go before matching China’s manufacturing prowess. It’s not likely that attracting one or two companies to manufacture in India will quickly produce what the US wants. What’s needed are complete production systems, almost a mission impossible for New Delhi at present.”
