Days after denying ticket to the wife of Late Bengaluru South MP Ananth Kumar, Bharatiya Janata Party on Tuesday appointed his wife Tejaswini Ananth Kumar as the vice president of the Saffron Party in Karnataka State ahead of Mega battle of ballots.

The Announcement about appointing her as the State Vice President of the party made by the BJP state President and former Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa.

The move is seen as an effort to keep her and supporters intact who are upset after the party dropped her named for the Parliamentary Seat. The move is similar to one when Yeddyurappa’s son Vijayendra was made the Youth Wing President after he was denied a ticket in last year Karnataka State Polls from Mysore Region.

The party in a run-up to the national elections 2019 has named youngster Tejasvi Surya, 27, from the parliamentary seat of Bengaluru South.

While her appointment comes hours before BJP President Amit Shah‘s visit to the state. BJP Chief is slated to visit the state to participate in the roadshow organized to galvanize support for Tejasvi Surya.

The decision to drop Tejaswini Ananth Kumar’s ticket from the Seat which had represented by her husband since 1996 comes as a surprise to many in the state.

It is noteworthy Karnataka BJP Chief Yeddyurappa had himself endorsed her candidature and recommended the same to the High Command just a day before the first list of candidates was released by the party.

However, the party instead of Tejaswini had chosen 27-year-old Tejasvi Surya for the Seat which had been represented for many terms by Late Ananth Kumra. Surya is Yuva Morcha leader and nephew of Basavanagudi MLA Ravi Subramanya

The move to drop wife of late MP reportedly irked many within the saffron party in the state party who had endorsed her candidature from the seat.

Tejasvani’s Husband Late Former MP Ananth Kumar had represented the Bengaluru South segment since 1996 till his demise in November last year.  He had in 2014 General elections won the seat with over 1.80 lakh votes. He had defeated DP Sharma of Congress.

Despite expressing displeasure after the party dropped her name, she had told reporters that she would selflessly work for the party.

Soon after Bharatiya Janata Party announced Tejasvi’s name for the seat, Tejasvini said “It is shocking to me and the BJP workers in the parliamentary segment’

She added We all have to work together for electing PM Narendra Modi Modi again instead of asking questions on the ticket.
