Yet another step is taken by the Yogi Adityanath led UP government for the welfare and development of the state. Uttar Pradesh government has passed an amount of ₹100 crore to renovate the Banke Bihari temple and the 9 ponds around it in the area of 84 kms.

According to Yogi, Vrindavan holds great mythological significance and also from the point of view of tourism, it is an important place in the state. The state has decided to renovate the 9 ponds, which are in decaying condition, the water is contaminated and is harmful for the pilgrims bathing in it.

These ponds hold mythological importance as, The Vihwal pond, is said to be the pond one where Lord Krishna and Radha met for the first time and it was filled with the tears of Krishna and Radha on seeing each other and getting mesmerized with the love they shared.

Lord Krishna is believed to have appeared for the first time at the Potra pond in Mathura near the Krishna Janmabhoomi. Similarly, Govind Pond in Govardhan also hold its importance as it is believed that Krishna bathed in this pond after he lifted the Govardhan mountain.

According to the government officials, the plan of renovating include, cleaning and beautifying these ponds and improve the access and pedestrian facilities to Banke Bihari Temple in Vrindavan.
