The Central Investigation Agency CBI on Friday move to Delhi High Court and filed a plea seeking an early hearing in the appeal which the Probing Agency against the acquittal of accused in 2G Spectrum Case.

Hearing the plea the single Judge Bench AK Chawla issued notices to all the respondents and posted the matter for July 30.

Earlier the probing agencies – CBI and Enforcement Directorate – approached the Court against the acquittal of all the accused including Kanimozhi, A Raja and others.

Earlier the Court had on March 26 stated that it will not proceed in the 2G Spectrum Case until the accused Shahid Usman Balwa does not comply with the Court earlier order about the Plantation Drive.

It had directed all the litigants to plant trees in Delhi’s Ridge area for not filing the replies on the probing agency notices. The Court had earlier posted the matter for October.

A special court had acquitted them on December 21, 2017.

The charge sheet filed by the probing agency alleged that 200 crores were paid to Swan Telecom (P) Ltd. owned by Shahid Usman Balwan who were promoters to the DMK-run Kalaignar TV.

The 17 others acquitted included, DMK Supremo M Karunanidhi’s wife Dayalu Ammal, Shahid Balwa and Vinod Goenka of STPL, Asif Balwa and Rajiv Aggarwal of Kusegaon Fruits and Vegetables Pvt. Ltd.,

While Film Producer and close friend of Shahrukh Khan, Karim Morani was also among the accused.

The scam resulted in a loss of 30,984 crores to the exchequer for the allotment of licenses on the 2G spectrum.
