Hemant Soren led Jharkhand Mukti Morcha who had in February entered into an alliance with the Congress for Jharkhand is now reportedly joining hands with Rahul Gandhi led Congress Party in Odisha. If reports to be believed seat-sharing talks with the party will be finalized in the next couple of days.

The State Polls will be clubbed with the General Elections 2019. The State will Poll on the first phase of Voting, April 11. The State has a total of 147 State Assembly while having 21 Lok Sabha Seats.

According to a report by news agency PTI, JMM is interested to have its candidates on the Mayurbhanj and Sundargarh districts in the Assembly State Polls. JMM’s Boss Shibhu Soren, daughter, Anjali, may contest from Mayurbhanj Lok Sabha constituency.

JMM-Congress combine will take on Bhartiya Janta Party and Naveen Patnaik‘s Biju Janta Dal in the upcoming polls. In 2014 General Elections, BJD totally swept the state by bagging 20 seats out of 21 seats while banking on ‘Modi Wave’ the saffron party could only manage to get 1 Lok Sabha Seat in the state.

In 2014 State Polls, BJD had won 117 seats while leaving just 16 for the Congress and 10 for the Bhartiya Janta Party.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has already made it clear that he will not go with an alliance and will contest polls on its own.

JMM had in February last month entered into an alliance with Congress. As per Alliance terms in Jharkhand, Congress will lead the alliance in the Lok Sabha Polls, while the JMM will lead the alliance and do the same in the assembly elections.

Reportedly, the Congress would contest seven, the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) four, Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (JVM) two and RJD one of the 14 Lok Sabha seats in the Jharkhand.

General Elections are slated for April-May this year that would spread on Seven Phases starting from April 11 to May 19. Counting of votes will take place on May 23.
