Rahul Gandhi appoints Jetti Kusum Kumar as working president of TPCC

Weeks before the upcoming Assembly elections in Telangana, Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Thursday appointed Jetti Kusum Kumar as the Working President of Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC). The addition came a day after the Congress formed nine committees and named two other working presidents of the state unit.

“Congress President Rahul Gandhi appoints Jetti Kusum Kumar as Working President of Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee,” the news agency ANI reported.

A Revanth Reddy, who left Telugu Desam Party (TDP) to join Congress late last year, and former Member of Parliament Ponnam Prabhakar were also appointed working presidents of the TPCC Wednesday.

The Congress on Wednesday had released its second list of 10 candidates for Telangana assembly elections. The party also released a list of 65 candidates on Monday which suggests that state party chief N Uttam Kumar Reddy would be contesting from the Huzurnagar constituency.

Elections to the Telangana assembly will be held on December 7, and the last date for filing nominations is November 19. The counting of the votes will be taken up on December 11, 2018.
