According to Pakistan‘s Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry, Congress leader and former Indian cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu is likely to visit Pakistan to attend the magnificent foundation ceremony for the Kartarpur border corridor.

Pakistan’s PM Imran Khan will inaugurate the ceremony of the facilities at the crossing on the Pakistan side on November 28.

Sidhu on a cheerful note said that he has gladly accepted the invitation, sent by Mr Khan for the November 28 event. He also said that the Pakistani prime minister was his friend and he will visit the country whenever he is invited by him.

Mr Sidhu’s words were, “I don’t have words to express my joy.”

Kartarpur Sahib, which is situated in Narowal district of Pakistan’s Punjab province,  is a Sikh place of worship where Guru Nanak is believed to have spent the last 18 years of his life. There have been demands to build a corridor linking it with Dera Baba Nanak in Gurdaspur district of Punjab, India. The issue gained focus after Navjot Singh Sidhu visited Pakistan in August to attend the inauguration of Mr Khan as Prime Minister.

After his return, Sidhu said Pakistan Army chief Qamar Javed Bajwa had told him that Pakistan may open a corridor to Kartarpur Sahib.

This is going to be Sindhu’s second visit to Pakistan this year.
