In a bid to celebrate the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi in grandeur manner, the saffron party has announced to launch its “Gandhi Sankalp Yatra” from October 2.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch the program from Delhi on Gandhi Jayanti. Bhartiya Janta Party has decided to promote the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi as part of his birth anniversary celebration. Ideals of Non-violence, Khadi, Tree plantation and Cleanliness iterated by the father of the nation will be put out as a theme. Ministries have already picked up the momentum to create large-scale awareness about single-use plastic.

BJP leader Amit Shah interacted with the party workers on Saturday via video conferencing. Discussing the various ways to promote the noble ideas of Gandhiji, He chalked out the plan for upcoming Gandhi Jayanti. Home Minister has also urged his party workers to begin their campaigns in respective constituencies to propagate Gandhi’s ideals.

As quoted by ANI, he said, “The BJP is committed to implementing the ideals and
principles of Gandhi. We have to reach every household with Gandhi’s message of
cleanliness, non-violence, swadeshi, swaraj and saadgi (simplicity).”

The government has also released a statement regarding the upcoming Gandhi Jayanti celebrations a few days ago. According to the official release, an awareness program will be carried on from September 11 till 1 October. In this program, around 4,000 towns and 6 lakh villages are expected to prepare for the collection and disposal of plastic waste. National handicrafts fair on the theme of Gandhi would also be organized from October 1 till 15.

As per the laid out plan, a countrywide “shramdaan” for plastic waste would also take place in all the gram panchayats, urban local bodies, schools, etc. on the eve of October 2.

150th Gandhi Jayanti anniversary celebration-

Not only BJP is going all out to celebrate the Gandhi Jayanti, but Congress party has also announced its big plans for the national event. It has been reported that the party might bring out a commemorative logo to mark the occasion. ‘Pad yatras‘ will also be taken up by the party leaders.

A circular issued on September 4, by party general secretary KC Venugopal, has also asked the state units and leaders to come up with the plan of activities.
