Uttar Pradesh General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi, who has the uphill task to revive the party on her shoulders, asked Congress youth to connect socially with the voters of the state. Priyanka Gandhi held a meeting with Youth Congress workers and directed them to reach out voters and identify their problems.

In a meeting, Uttar Pradesh East in-charge, Gandhi also took the feedback and suggestions from the party leaders on how to reach out to voters and make a connect with them after its poll disaster in the recently held national polls.

Sources familiar with the minutes of the meeting claimed that Gandhi has directed all the youth congress leaders to reach to voters, help them in their problems related to electricity tariffs and hospitals. She also said to make a social connection with them that would yield political dividends.

She said this is the need of the hour that we should realize the masses that the Congress party is with you.

The meeting that lasted for about 45 minutes, held at Rahul Gandhi’s residence in the national capital. She also discussed Rahul Gandhi‘s loss in Amethi and said there is a need to look and review the things.

The party had appointed three AICC secretaries to review the poll debacle and they have submitted the report to Priyanka. Sources claimed lack of organization is among the big reason for the party poor show in Uttar Pradesh.

After a massive poll setback, Priyanka Gandhi is tasked with uphill work to strengthen the party in the state keeping in mind the upcoming by-polls and State Polls that are due for 2022. She had held a couple of meetings post elections 2019.

Priyanka had campaigned intensively for the party in UP, especially in Raebareli and Amethi but the party lost all the seats in UP except Raebareli.

Currently, both the general secretaries of the party – Priyanka Gandhi and Jyotiraditya Scindia – are holding a review meeting in the state to deliberate the reasons behind the poll disaster in the recently held national polls.

The Congress faced a crushing defeat in national polls and won 52 seats, which is only 8 more than it got in 2014 national polls. It has also lost some of its strongholds across the country including Rahul Gandhi’s Amethi in Uttar Pradesh.
