The big player of UP, Samajwadi Party is going to set its foot in the upcoming elections in Madhya Pradesh. A party spokesperson issued in a statement that SP national president Akhilesh Yadav will be visiting MP for two days reaching there on 29th September and will be addressing public meeting in Shahdol and Balaghat respectively.

With an aim to mark its base in  MP, Akhilesh Yadav had held quite a number of events in Bhopal, Satna, Rewa, Khajuraho, Panna, Sidhi, Shahdil. Hence, the Samajwadi Party has caught a hold in the poll-bound state and is ready to contest the elections.  Party’s national secretary, Rajendra Chaudhury had claimed that the party organization has expanded in Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Gujarat, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Maharashtra.

While addressing the reporters in Chattarpur in May earlier this year, Akhilesh Yadav had said “if the opposition parties wanted to take the SP onboard, it should be on decent terms”.

As it seems the party has not received any possible offer of alliance. However, the sources have informed that Akhilesh Yadav might meet the congress poll managers and other party leaders of the state.

Samajwadi Party has been founded in 1992 and since then it has been a regional party. By contesting elections in other states especially the northern- Hindi belt the party aims to promote itself to the rank of national party.

The Samajwadi Party had been contesting elections in MP since 1993 where it managed to garner one seat and the umber went on to 7 seats in 2003 assembly elections. However, in 2008, SP was not able to maintain its score and won only one seat.

In the past, the SP had also contested elections on a limited number of seats in Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Gujarat, Jharkhand and Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
