Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and BJP leader, Yogi Adityanath spoke on the sensitive matter of increasing cases of mob lynching in the nation.

A few hours earlier before the CM’s interview, four men were brutally attacked on the suspicion of cow smuggling by a group of people in western part of Uttar Pradesh.

The UP CM stated the importance of both humans and cows in his statement. He said, “Humans are important and cows are also important. Both have their own roles in nature.” He assured his government will provide protection to its citizens. He told in an interview to ANI, “But it is the responsibility of every individual, every community and every religion to respect each other’s sentiments.”

BJP–the saffron party and its members have always been vocal about its love for cow and their protection. One of its leaders recently made a statement where he demanded the status of national animal for “gau mata.”

Yogi Adityanath also accused of giving “unnecessary importance” to the incidents of mob lynching as Congress’ intention is to “make mountain of a molehill”.

He also referred to Rajnath Singh’s speech in the no-confidence motion where he called 1984–Sikh riots as the biggest instance of mob lynching in the nation.

The incidents of mob lynching have been rising for a few years now. Supreme Court has already directed the Centre to make a separate penal law for mob violence. Most of these incidents which occur are based on suspicions and fake news.

The apex court has told the Centre to make punishable laws to stop this ” mobocracy”.
