WhatsApp is working on ways to make the WhatsApp Web more secure for users.

According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is working on a new feature for WhatsApp Web. It is the fingerprint authentication. The fingerprint authentication feature will help strengthen the overall security of chats. It will also prevent others from creating webs sessions without knowledge of users.

The feature is under development in the beta 2.20.200.10 for Android and will roll out in the next update.

The current method of authentication to use WhatsApp Web requires users to scan an on-screen QR code using their phone’s camera. This isn’t as secure as it seems. Anyone can open your WhatsApp on your Android and scan the QR code in your absence.

The reports stated that “One would have to open WhatsApp on their smartphones and scan their fingerprint to initiate the web session of their PC, the mobile messaging platform has dedicated a team to work on making the entire web browser more secure.”

Along with this security part, WhatsApp is also working on something called Wallpaper Dimming. This new feature will allow the users to adjust the opacity of wallpapers in WhatsApp. The feature will come in the wallpaper section which is still in the works.

WhatsApp will also introduce a new animated sticker pack called Usagyuuun in the default sticker list. This pack has a white cartoon character that depicts feelings of joy, anxiety, sadness, love, etc. The description for this animated pack goes as “A little bit peppy, a little bit bizarre.” It is created by Quan Ince.
