Microsoft’s browser “Edge” has left Firefox behind in the third spot in users’ preferences of web browsers. Now they must beat Chrome to become No 1.
Mozilla Firefox has lost its spot as the second most popular browser to Microsoft Edge. Microsoft edge is the revamped version of the forever slow Internet explorer.
It’s a long way to go to reach that No 1 spot. According to NetMarketShare, Edge takes over the runner-up position with a 7.59% market share, followed by Firefox with 7.19%.
Google’s Chrome still lords over the competition with a stunning 68.5% market share.
In January Firefox was in second place with 8.22% share and Chrome with 66.59% share in the first place. Both Edge and Chrome’s shares have increased whereas Firefox has dropped by a whole 1 percent.
To bring down Chrome and get the first spot is never gonna be easy for Edge. They are slowly climbing their way up but Chrome is miles ahead. There are some downsides of Chrome for example more RAM usage and less privacy-friendly. Firefox is a better alternative for that.
But the range of Chrome browser is extremely vast. It is so simple to sync any kind of device on your single account. The community is way bigger compared to others which leads to better add ons and extensions.
All Windows 10 devices come with internet explorer but the default browser is Edge. Edge is good to use. I have used it for a huge amount of time before switching to chrome. Once you are comfortable with Chrome you won’t find it easy to go back to Edge.
One place where Microsoft can gain more users is if they provide more privacy along with vast extensions and more appealing UI like chrome. Chrome lacks privacy, everyone knows that. So maybe that is a place where Edge can catch up on and try to beat the Web giant.
This competition is good as it will lead to better products by the company to keep their number 1 spot.
